Another fantastic all-round performance by Wales Over-50s' Iwan Rees (97 and 4/19). Rees is the leading run-scorer in all international masters cricket and now also in the top 5 wicket-takers.Wales had a comprehensive 86-run win over India. Here is the scorecard: wales.play-cricket.com/website/results/6456752In one of our best ever o50s ODI performances, against Veterans Cricket India, Iwan Rees Llanelli Cricket Club once again showed his brilliance with 97 and 4-19. We are also seeing the impact of some of the players coming into the ODI squad for the first time this year as they have turned 50 and are adding much quality to the wider ODI squad.Having won the toss on dry wicket Newport Cricket Club Wales Over 50s Cricket made a cautious start reaching 55-1 off 18 overs with Simon Holliday Dafen Welfare Cricket Club playing solidly. This layed the effective foundation for the strong batting line up. This was followed run a ball partnerships of 50 runs in 7 overs between Iwan Rees and Michael Cann Cardiff Cricket Club and 71 runs in 11 overs with Simon Wood (Carew CC). Fireworks followed as Kelvin Bartle (Tata Steel CC) smashed 63 off 27 balls in partnership Malith Madurasinghe Chepstow C.C. who also scored at over a run a ball. The total of 256 was too much for Veterans Cricket India as the wicket begun to turn more and more with the Welsh spin quintet working through the Indian batting line up with Roy Emmott Newport Fugitives Cricket Club (2-35) made early inroads with Julian Ballinger Miskin Manor Cricket Club (3-38) taking out the middle order. Tight spells from Michael Cann Cardiff Cricket Club and Mark Davies Ynysygerwn Community Sports & Social Club, Pontarddulais Cricket Club restricted India before the outstanding Iwan Rees Llanelli Cricket Club cleaned up the lower order with 4-19. Steve Powell Mumbles Cricket Club, Builth Wells Cricket Club was superb behind the stumps in the hot conditions and Huw Evans (Fishguard and Goodwick CC), on debut, provided much energy in the field. This was an impressive team perfomance with all players making key contributions at key times during the match and sets us up well for the Marlborough Tournament next weekend.Llongyfarchiadau Cymru. #walessecondinningsInternational Masters CricketSpirit of CricketEngland Over 50s CricketAustralian Over 50s CricketVeterans Cricket IndiaCricket WalesPeter Lynn and Partners ... STUNNING ALL-ROUND BUKHARI HELPS WALES CONQUER AUSSIESLast year, Wales' Ali Bukhari played 1 match for Wales Over-40s, scoring 115* from 98 balls on debut agaEngland Over 40s Cricketgland. Today, having graduated toWales Over 50s Cricketr 50s team, he made his debut agaAustralian Over 50s Cricketalian and whacked 136* from 106 balls, with 20 boundaries and 4 sixes, helping the Welsh from a precarious 44/4 to a relatively comfortable 2-wicket win. Australia's 222 was led by 74 from Anthony Barranca but no one else passed 40 as the Welsh bowled well in home conditions. Bukhari (2/38) and the evergreen Roy Emmott (2/33) were the most successful bowlers. Then the skillful Aussie seam attack looked to have the game under control - before Bukhari's assault. Walking to the wicket at 40/3, he put on virtually a one-man show, as Simon Wood (20) and Kelvin Bartle (10) were the only other Welshmen to reach double figures. Bartle's contribution was 10 in a 67-run partnership, and John Toghill scored 6 as he and Bukhari put on 51 in a remarkable comeback.Grant Dew had the standout bowling figures of 3/14 from 9, but no one was stopping Bukhari today. As far as I can tell, Bukhari is the first player to score centuries on debut in two different age groups. Equally amazing is the fact that these are his only two international matches, and he is yet to be dismissed in either. Here is the scorecard: www.play-cricket.com/website/results/6246953The Australian match report is below. ...
