The IMC Over-40s World Cup kicks off on Saturday (Guyana time) with four matches.The match of the day will pit hosts Cricket West Indies Masters Association against T20 World Cup winners Cricket Australia Masters Over 40's. The Windies side is packed full of former internationals, such as Ramnaresh Sarwan and Denesh Ramdin, but the Aussies have shown that a team of stars doesn't necessarily guarantee anything, as they showed when they defeated a high-proPakistan Veterans Cricket Associationistan side in the T20 final in Karachi recently.Another interesting match-up willEngland Over 40s Cricketgland Masters Cricket USAy USA. England have swept all before them at home this year, and also have a team brimming with high-pedigree players, but the USA team could be more used to the conditions, time zone, etVeterans Cricket of South Africafrica are the defending champions, having won the inaugural World Cup in Cape Town in 2024. They will take on a Canadian side that features the world's top-ranked player in Royston Crandon and former West Indies Test player Shane Shillingford.Pakistan will play the Rest of the Caribbean (RotC) in the day's final game. Matches involving RoTC, Rest of the World and Colombia will not be counted as official O40Is because those teams are not full IMC members. The Over-50s Africa Cup takes place in Harare, Zimbabwe +50 Cricket Association, later this month. The tournament will feature hosts Zimbabwe, plus Veterans Cricket of South Africa and England and also South Africa A.Here is the full schedule.
Here are some of the big-name players to watch out for in the IMC Over-40s World Cup, which starts in Guyana on October 17 ...DENESH RAMDIN (Cricket West Indies Masters Association) - With 74 Tests and 139 ODIs to his name, Ramdin is one of the most decorated player in the tournament. The keeper-batsman was a mainstay of the West Indies side for a decade and captained the side in 13 Tests.DARREN STEVENS (England Over 40s Cricket) - Stevens played first-class cricket until the age of 46, by which time he had played over 850 county-level games, scoring over 28,000 runs and taking nearly 900 wickets. In O40Is, he has scored 392 runs at 43.56 and taken 10 wickets at 16.30.RAMNARESH SARWAN (West Indies) - Sarwan has an outstanding international record, playing 87 Test matches with 15 centuries, including a high score of 291, as well as 181 ODIs - both with batting averages over 40. SHEHARYAR GHANI (Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association) - Left-handed batsman who played over 150 matches at First-Class/List A/T20 level, hitting 8 centuries with a best of 194*GREG HUNT (Cricket Australia Masters) - A former Australia Under-19 player, Hunt is the leading run-scorer in all O40Is, with 767 at 47.94. He also has 5 wickets at 17.40.DEVENDRA BISHOO (West Indies) - Another West Indian with extensive international experience, Bishoo played 36 Tests, 42 ODIs and 7 T20Is as a leg-spinner. His greatest achievement was taking 8/49 against Pakistan in 2016.GERRIE SNYMAN (Veterans Cricket Association of Namibia) - One of Namibia's best ever cricketers, all-rounder Snyman played in the 2003 World Cup and also racked up 72 first-class games, 130 List-A games and 53 T20s. He is a powerful hitter and was a star at the 2024 IMC O40s WC, averaging 60 with the bat and 20 with the ball, making the Team of the Tournament.SHANE SHILLINGFORD (Canada) - Dominican-born Shillingford took 70 wickets in 16 Test matches for the West Indies, including 10-wicket match hauls against Australia and Zimbabwe. Overall, he took 587 first-class wickets at just 24.32 and a further 107 wickets in List-A matches.KYLE COETScotland Seniors Crickettland) - Koetzer played for Scotland 159 times (89 ODIs and 70 T20Is) over 15 years, scoring 5 centuries - including a high score of 156 vs Bangladesh - and 26 half-centuries. When he retired in 2023 he was Scotland's leading run-scorer in ODIs. He has played 2 O40Is, with a best of 77.RICHARD SIMS (England) - Born in Zimbabwe, Sims played 3 ODIs for them against Pakistan and South Africa before moving to England. He also has a first-class double century and a first-class 6-fer to his name.ROYSTON CRANDON (Canada) - Crandon scored an amazing 143* for Canada O40s vs the USA in 2025 and has 2 other 50s, in addition to 9 wickets at 20.67, which puts him at the top of the IMC World Rankings. He played over 80 FC/List A/T20 matches for his native Guyana before moving to Canada.JAWED MANSOOR (Pakistan) - Keeper-batsman who played 100+ times for Karachi and took over 250 dismissals.RYAN CANNING (England) - Another keeper-batsman, Canning played 105 first-class matches, mostly in his native South Africa, scoring over 5000 runs and effecting over 350 dismissals. In 7 O40Is, Canning has an average of 85.33 and a strike rate of 120, including a century against Wales.MICHANew Zealand Over-40s Cricketew Zealand) - Opening bowler who played for Wellington, taking 32 first-class wickets at 27.93. He has taken 7 wickets at 21.57 in O40Is.RYAN NURSE (Rest of the Caribbean) - Fast bowler Nurse played 16 first-class games, mostly for Barbados, with a best performance of 7/41. He will likely spearhead the RotC attack.

The IMC Over-50s (O50I) stats have also been updated. It has been a busy year so far, with 26 O5OIs played already, among 8 IMC member countries.Iwan Rees (Wales Over 50s Cricket) retains his customary spot as leading run-scorer, with 2182 at an average of 44.53. Six more players joined the 1000-run club this year: Richard Petrie (New Zealand Over-50s Cricket), Fazal Alam (Masters Cricket USA), Iqbal Khan (India Over-50s Cricket), Jonathan Wileman (England), Andrew Hore (NZ), and David Snellgrove (England).Rees is also the top wicket-taker, with 75, and his compatriots Julian Ballinger and Roy Emmott make up 3 of the top 4 names on the list, with USA's Himanshu Patadia tucked into third place. Six players have now taken 50 or more wickets.There hasn't been much movement among the wicket-keepers/fielders, with USA's Parak Ananta maintaining a large gap at the top, despite now moving into the over-60s age group.There has been movement in the World Rankings, as Ali Bukhari drops from 1st to 4thVeterans Cricket of South Africaat South Africa's Wiaan Smit takes over at the top, ahead of the returning English star Stephen Foster. The IMC Over-40s World Cup is now less than two weeks away.As usual, all matches will be covered here on the International Masters Cricket Facebook page. This is the only official Facebook page for the tournament. The excellent Cricket West Indies Masters website will be the hub for live scores, streaming and results.The 16 teams have been divided into two pools (or "zones"), as shown below. South Africa are the reigning champions, having beaten New Zealand in the final of the inaugural tournament in Cape Town in 2024, and those two countries are in opposite pools. Along with South Africa, the main contenders in Zone A will likely be hosts West Indies (whose squad features the likes of Ramnaresh Sarwan, Dinesh Ramdin, Devendra Bishoo and Rayad Emrit) and Australia (who won the IMC T20 World Cup last year).In Zone B, watch out for a very strong England side, which includes Darren Stevens and a number of other former first-class players.
